Why it matters
Kinder farming is better for everyone..
Pecky went from a cage the size of a piece of printer paper to having the freedom to stretch her wings. Her story shows how we can transform the lives of factory farmed animals β but only with your help.
Meet the animals you'll help..
βI like that FarmKind digs into the research to find really impactful charities. They estimate how many animals my donation will help, which gives me confidence that my donation is making a real differenceβ
Hear from our donors..
Peckyβs story
Like most egg-laying hens in America, Pecky spent most of her life in a small metal cage about with about as much space as a piece of printer paper, unable even to stretch her wings.
Barely able to move, the wire of the cage cutting into her feet. Surrounded by the noise of thousands of other chickens. Her nostrils filled with burning fumes from their dung. This is the reality for millions of chickens today. Weβll spare you the images, but you can view them if you choose here.
But today, Pecky is one of the few lucky chickens. She, along with 435 other chickens from the same operation, was rescued. She now lives at a local sanctuary where she spends her days doing what chickens naturally love: taking dust baths, foraging in green pastures, and living freely among other rescued hens. For the first time in her life, she can spread her wings.
All animals deserve our protection
Pecky's story of transformation is beautiful, but sadly still rare. Today, 99% of farm animals live on factory farms, kept in unnatural, often dirty and stressful conditions.
These animals are not really that different from the animals we love and live with. Cows are playful and love solving puzzles, like dogs. Pigs can form strong bonds with people, like Lulu who saved her ownerβs life! Chickens can even be sneaky, with roosters pretending food is nearby to attract hens.
We can help protect them and give them better lives. FarmKind works with experts to recommend top charities making the biggest difference for factory farmed animals like Pecky and working to make farming kinder. Through successful campaigns by charities like The Humane League, tens of millions of hens have been spared from ever experiencing the cage that trapped Pecky.

Micaella Rogers
Researcher, Vegetarian, FarmKind donor
βBig fan of the compassion calculator. While I am mostly vegetarian, I haven't felt ready to commit to a fully plant based diet. Really happy I felt able to confidently offset the difference until I'm ready to make the full lifestyle change"

Our top animal charities are transparent, trustworthy and focused on delivering results. We only recommend charities that are transparent about how they use your donations and can show that they are making a real impact.
All our charities must have been rigorously assessed and then recommended by Animal Charity Evaluators, who are an independent organization that spends thousands of hours interrogating charities' operations to understand how much good they do with each donation. We also work with expert grant-makers to further refine our recommendations.

The top animal charities can help hundreds (if not thousands) of animals with the same donation that some of the best-known animal charities need to help just one.
But figuring out which are the best animal charities is too much work for any individual donor to take on. That's why we've done the homework for you, with our recommended charities.
By giving at least some of your donations to these charities, you can be confident your donation isn't going to waste and is going to make a big difference for the animals suffering in factory farms that desperately need your support.
Plus, when you donate through FarmKind, your donation can receive a boost of up to 70%.
